Student involvement is an important component in the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). At all levels, but especially the secondary grade level – student voices get a seat at the table with school decision-makers including parents, school leaders and community members. PTSA student leaders gain experience in leadership, advocacy, public speaking, teamwork, event planning – all while improving their school.
That’s why the Farmington Area PTA Council sponsors a local scholarship program culminating with the presentation of up to three, $500 scholarships to graduating seniors from Farmington Public Schools. The scholarship is named after former Farmington Public Schools Superintendent C. Robert Maxfield, a man dedicated to serving others by providing educational opportunity to all youths in the community. To be eligible, a student must be an active member of a high school Parent Teachers Student Association (PTSA).
